The SideShow Drama crew are friendly and fully Qualified, (HND BTEC Level 7), in Theatre studies and performing arts. We have brand new speech and drama workshops available which are aimed at 2nd - 6th class -1st - 3rd students. These two-hour workshops can be done with each class. Extra-curricular activities are unfortunately less important in these hard times, this is why we believe that getting through to children at a young age and hooking them onto a new hidden talent or skill is key to the social growth that they will need in the future. Through different games, exercises and projects we will incorporate all of the following details into your student’s lives through Theatre. The following are just some of the benefits to children being introduced to arts and drama. ● Drawing out confidence ● Acting skills – The same ones used by the professionals. ● Bullying – STOP – One person can make a difference ● Social skills, personal and creative growth ● Team and Friendship building exercise ● Planning and Organisational skills needed for Theatre.. .and life! ● Safe expression & eye contact ● Speech – Vocal methods ● Articulation & Projection ● Grammar & Tongue twisters ● Finding hidden talents ● Improv clown games ● Memory Games ● Funny faces and accents ● How to write a story for a film, play or book ● Costumes and stage makeup, the importance of not wearing too much makeup. We will take the children through all the real superstars in the industry, like the people who clean the stage, paint the sets, build the backdrops and create the props, the music and lighting people who make funny noises and brighten the whole stage so we can see the performance. Finally, all students are taught tension and relaxation therapy exercises. As we all know younger people are getting more stressed, studies show that knowing how the body reacts to tension gives you a better understanding of how to deal with this vital issue in an appropriate manner. This tension and relaxation exercise is also done at the end of all of the workshops, free of charge to all the teachers and staff members, it is not just for students. It takes just 20 minutes and is usually quite beneficial to do at the start of the week or the week’s end. We require children to bring a pen and pad, a bottle of water and their imagination!
